| | | New froglets and goldfish I've got a small fishtank which contains about 8 tadpoles which are the only surviving ones from a clumb of frog spawn. I decided to rescue some seeing that the goldfish in the pond always each them plus our winter here had been extremely harsh compared to recent years.
Now that they're starting to turn into little frogs I'm wondering when it would be safe to introduce them into the pond and what would be the best way of doing it? After all, I really don't want the fish to eat them, two of our fish are almost a foot long and the best-developed frog so far has almost lost its tail and is now making great use of the stones I've placed in the tank to sit on.
EDIT: Here's a pic of what may be one of the parents - just after I cleaned the pond a couple months ago: http://www.pictureinthesky.net/viewpic.php?cat=5&pic=95 |

| | | Re: New froglets and goldfish When I changed the flow of the water into the pond I removed the top tier and replaced it with a pipe feeding the lower tier and covered the pipe with stones starting with large ones going to smaller ones on top. I also covered most of the lower tier with a large piece of slate and placed some more smaller stones on top. While sat watching the pond I've seen the occasional large frog appear from under the slate and sit on the end of the waterfall looking out. The water falling into the pond is splashing back underneath onto the garden keeping it damp.
Looks like thats the best place then! |

Could you let them go somewhere else? They'll be fishfood otherwise. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
