| | Re: Taddys I have only had my pond up and running for about 4 weeks and have noticed what looks like tadpoles. Can someone please advise if this is too late in the year to have taddys. I really don't know where they have appeared from as I never saw any frog spawn and they are only approx 1cm in length some are smaller. |

| | | Re: Taddys I doubt that they are tadpoles at this time of year. Have you put any plants or water from other ponds in yours which they could have been transferred by accident? If not try and get a photo there are lots of invertebrates that live in ponds which could be what you are seeing. |

So I made the point of them accidentally being introduced from another source. I dont dispute the fact of tadpoles overwintering which im sure you have seen me mention im some of my other posts. |

| | | Re: Taddys I took a closer look at what I thought were tadpoles and noticed that they were hairy. I did a search on google and found some pictures they seem to have been identified as Mosquito larvae. Should I just leave them in the pond? |

Without doubt they are one of the most important factors to your pond developing, they are near the beginning of the food chain and are important for your pond to establish itself as an affective ecosystem. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
