| | | Murky pond after only 6 weeks Hi,
I've set up a small fish pond in my garden and wanted to know why it's got so murky so quickly.
100% of the water surface is in direct sunlight for a lot of the day and I'm guessing that thats the cause.
It as a small pump in it which is getting clogged up very quickly so do I need a UV filter or something similar?
We have 5 health gold fish in there and 4 plants etc if that makes a difference.
Regards

| | | Re: Murky pond after only 6 weeks 1st its in direct sunlight which is going to be a big factor
2nd you need a bigger pump by the sounds of it and maybe a filter and UV light.
3rd you have fish, fish produce waste and stir up the bottom which will add to the problem.
The solution i think is to get a bigger pump/filter as the current setup is overworked. |

| | | Re: Murky pond after only 6 weeks Thanks,
How does the pump help clear the water? I that all the pump did was circulate and oxygenate the water.
The pump we bought was the one suggested by the pond specialist and its not even on full power because the pond is only small.
Whats the difference between a UV light and a filter?
thanks again,

UV is ultraviolet light it kills algae when water passed beneath it, a filter blocks off dirt in the water and separates it. In some cases fish ponds require them both together. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
