| | | found a toad. Opened the back door this morning to find a toad sitting on the gravel looking at me The French Lops, who went outside earlier, had legged it the back of the garage I put the toad beside the rockery pond, but it jumped down and disappeared somewhere. This evening we found it beside the wall, so we put it into teh water. My O/H said it felt cool and dry and should be moist. It stayed in the pond for about 20 minutes and then climbed out. It went into a flower pot that I had placed next to the pond.
Have we done the right thing ? Is there anything else that we should do ? |

| | | Re: found a toad. Toads are dry and warty usually. Sounds fine and fit and a nice little friend in your garden. I want one!

| | | Re: found a toad. Great news - a toad in your garden!
They are much more tolerant of dry conditions than, for example, frogs. So don't worry that he didn't stay in the pond.
I wouldn't use pesticides in your garden (I don't know if you do) and I'd leave him lots of undisturbed places to hide in - and hopefully he'll be joined by a friend or two next spring - THEN they can make use of your pond |

| | | Re: found a toad. He/she crawled into a space under the edge of the pond last night and made himself a bed for the night. But he was gone this morning and I haven't seen him/her since. I was hoping toady was going to stay - maybe he didn't like our little pond. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
