BigT | I wish it was that easy. I have a big pressure filter that also leads into a box filter, both with UV lights in them. I also have a small pressure filter, again with a UV fitted and all of those filters arel filtering a pool that is 10 foot long with an average width of 5 foot and an average depth of 3 foot 6 inches and still I get blanket weed. It has been cut drastically back by using a treatment called Allclear, but it is an expensive treatment but if left to all those filters alone it would have run amok by now.

The description is like blanket weed but the first comments seemed to indicate that it would be at the 'bottom' or on th 'sides of the pond' |

Whilst Ctenopharyngodon idella (Grass Carp) will eat some of your blanketweed, you have to weigh up the advantages and disadvantages of stocking them in your pond. The main two being the sizes they achieve, and the large amount of fish waste that would ensue |

If anyone is following this please note - I bought 3 albino grass carp and they grew into beauties - huge BUT its a catch 22, Yes they eat blanket weed but the waste they produce is handsome nutrition for the blanket weed - in order to keep the food cycle going it makes sense, they will not solve your blanket weed prob. I found this out only 2 years after I had got them. They are now happily rehomed in a friends lake. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
