Is this a leech? It looks quite big if so but after searches threads on here I'm inclined to believe it is... Anyone any idea which type if so?

I would say 100% leech but not sure what type

Thanks deer boy - that is a scary leech! won't be paddling barefoot in that pool for sure .. lol

Think it must be a horse leech by the size and colour of it. So it is quite safe to paddle unless you are a shrimp, mollusc or dead fish. The horse bit of the name refers to it's size not what it feeds on and it's not a bloodsucker but feeds on dead animals, snails, freshwater shrimps and other invertebrates.
