Ive just been thinking about all the animals I've seen pond dipping, and since helping with pond dipping school groups etc at bedfords my list has increased.
heres what Ive got so far
Water scorpion
great diving beetle (and larva)
damselfly nymph
darter type (i.e. short and fat) dragonfly nymph
saucer bug
greater (backswimmer) and lesser water boatmen
water mite
smooth and great crested newt tadpole (don't worry it was under license)
smooth newt adult - ive seen a GC adult in the water courting
frog and common toad + tadpoles
small water beetles
mayfly nymph
caddis fly larvae
aquatic moth caterpiller
freshwater shrimp
water louse
leech
water snails
water clam and mussel
pond skater
water measurer
water cricket
Rat tailed maggot
cranefly larva
Things on too see list
palmate newt and tadpole
water stick insect
marsh frog tadpole
bullfrog and tadpole (would have mixed feelings finding this one)
stonefly larvae
alderfly larvae
and of course the holy grail - a water spider
So whats everyone else seen/caught - and can you think of, or found anything I've missed off the list?
