Natterjack Toad

Have I heard a Natterjack Toad? I am currently working at the Isle of Grain(Kent) Gas storage site. There are environmental areas where Great Crested Newts and Natterjack Toads have been found. Last week I was distracted from what I was doing by a suprisingly loud sound that I can only describe as a bad attempt at donald duck that went Wah-Wah-Wah. Yes this does sound like I'm being woundup but am fairly sure it isnt. Sound level was on a par with how they use warning cries at airports to scare off birds.
So...can Natterjacks sound like a duck?? They are loud but only recording Ive heard sounds like....well a toad!
Unfortunately I cannot record the sound and I could not see anything. The only birds I see are gulls and sparrows.Area was dense undergrowth leading down to largish shallow water(not a river) with reeds.
Any ideas??

Hi Flex,
You could try listening to recordings of Marsh Frogs, they are quite widespread in Kent and although I've never heard them personally, they are apparently very noisy!
