| | | what the heck was that !! in my water viv i been collecting some different pond life creatures to see what they do etc, its been mostly common water beetles etc
anyway i been in hospital 4 days with a sudden kidney stone (V V painful)
so i been back a day or so and i just seen a worm like creature in the water viv along the bottom
its a dark khaki brown colour, small speckled black dots over its back, varing between a plump 5 cm and a thin 8-9 cm when stretched out, it moves like a fast agile worm.
its head end was small and worm like, not distinct enough to know it was the head end unless it was moving
what the hell is it
i dont remember picking anything up that was that size or shape, the largest i collected was 1 or 2 cm, of course its possible to have grown from a few weeks back and me just not seeing it
there was also a clear strip of something that i think might have been eggs,
they were clear and flat with eggs in two rows, around 12 eggs,
if it was eggs,
a diving beetle was eating them so i got that as a bit of food
anyone reconise the worm thing from my discription?

Could the worm thing be either a leach or a flatworm. The eggs could be water snails. Microscopy-UK full menu of microscopy and microscopes on the web
Or look here Leeches |
