| | | Pond Snails My wildlife pond is very small (8 x 3 feet) but it is full of life; the dozen or so smooth newts and one frog, numerous emerging damselflies and other 'bugs' are a delight to see.
My concern is over the proliferation of pond snails - today I counted 30 snails just on the water surface, so how many are there in the depths, I wonder? Should I be concerned about them? Should I have a cull or just leave well alone?
Your thoughts are appreciated
Polly

| | | Re: Pond Snails I squash a few for the tadpoles, but I leave the rest to it. I don't get over run with them so something must be eating them. I would leave them alone and see what happens. |

| | | Re: Pond Snails I have always looked on Pond snails as being beneficial. They are primarily grazers, so they are keeping vegetation in check. They eat too much, the population will fall, the plants will come back. It is a cycle, I would leave them be unless something weird happens and feel you HAVE to intervene. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
