| | | Snails eating all my plants! Hi,
I am in year 2 of a wildlife pond and so far I have been very happy with it.
However, I am continually losing all the plants I buy for it to pond snails.
I really do not mind them eating a few, but I have lost all the lilies I have put in and literally everything else. They must have arrived on plants I bought but there are so many of them now.
I am not sure what type of Snail they are, they are cone shaped.
Any advise appreciated.
Thanks. |

When my pond was younger they kept eating my water violet, and I'm afraid I donated some to the birdtable in the hope of thrushes. No doubt they made their way back to the pond, but it made me feel better!
Are you sure it's snails, as you can get water lily beetles? |

| | | Re: Snails eating all my plants! NEVER put salt in a pond!
(unless it is the medicinal sort for fish ailments)
"Outdoors" we are talking about pond snails. If you want to kill garde snails with salt, put some in a container and pick the snails off and drop them in. Sprinkling salt will affect other creatures, and may damage your soil. (or at least damage your plants) | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Hybrid Mode |
