| | | Beachcombing reports? With the recent and possibly ongoing rough weather we have had, I was wondering if anyone had had the opportunity to get down to the coast to walk along what might be some really good strandlines - what coasts are you near and what have you found?
I hope to be able to get down to Chesil Beach this weekend. The south coast have had some interesting things washed up - you never know what you might find. I look forward to seeing what the tide leaves behind.

| | | Re: Beachcombing reports? Yes, I should think there'll be some interesting things to find. Sadly some birds that wouldn't have made it, along with marine life. There may also be some interesting cargo I should imagine.
The battering that soft cliffs have taken along the south coast eg Blackgang Chine, should expose new fossils. So worth a look.

| | | Re: Beachcombing reports? Wont get to have a good look until the weekend but last time I was on the beach - there was tons of rubbish (thrown overboard from the boats tooing and frowing from Newhaven I guess) and lots of fishing line - one complete with a hook Apart from that - lots of drift wood, egg cases, cuttlefish bones, seaweed, slipper shells and limpet shells.

| | | Re: Beachcombing reports? I remember similar trips when I was younger. When I was very little, maybe 4 or 5, I remember a school trip to the coast in Norfolk. Sheringham, I think it was. The only thing I remember about it was my Dad getting nipped on the toe by a crab
I'd absolutely love to go beachcombing again. If I get the time in the Easter Holidays then I think I might go up to Cromer or Waxham to have a look. I'm a fan of fossil hunting too! Might ask my Grandad if he wants to go out

I've never found anything exciting beachcombing, should go more often.
