They are very suseptible to disease and chemical change. Hope it stays a local out break.

It looks like the Common Starfish to me; they are very common and occur in vast numbers around our coast and sometimes congregate in large 'shoals' to feed on shellfish. Possibly they moved into shallow water to feed at high tide and were caught out when the tide ebbed quickly and an onshore wind washed them ashore. |
