I picked them up and pit them in the barrel there were two other frogs already in the barrel mating..I don't think my barrel is big enough for 3 lots of spawn..The frogs were OK we got to them before the dog could do any harm.. |

Mine was still there up to an hour ago, seems to be sat on the top of the gravel, mud and pondweed on a pot about 3 inches under the surface, wonder if he's waiting for a mate Fighting the urge to go out for a last look fore bed, means I need to consume more red wine yum Off to birmingham after all, only cos other half took great interest in frog find lol, although will be checking pond first thing and take pics if poss.

There is one at the bottom of our garden, one about 4 doors down and two across the road..They don't get newts though . I had one frog two weeks after the pond was built.. And newts and toads breeding the same year..Also I have never used pesticides all the 14 years we have been there so we get lots of slugs.. |

| | | Re: Frog Frog Frog !! I think some frogs will go back year after year to the same pond, but if during their wandering about, they find another one to go to, they will go to that one as well. We had frogs one year that spawned in a garage pit prone to filling up with water, it can't have been a very nice home, as had oil etc floating in it. I got as much out as possible. The filling in of farm ponds, drained boggy patches in fields, and dry Springs means frogs and toads don't have so many options, that's why I think spawn sharing is a good idea, if carefully done, garden ponds are vital for them |
