Pumps and Filters

I am a bit of a newcomer to ponds, but am in the process of renovating a large one in my garden (about 20 feet by 12 feet and 2 feet deep). I have read the debate about whether fish and wildlife are compatible, which was very interesting ( I suppose with a pond so big it is alright to mix them if there are places to hide etc - although I am not sure where you get native fish), but my main worry is whether filters and pumps for waterfalls are compatible with wildlife since they create 'clean', moving water. Also, is it Ok to cover the whole floor of the pond with small pebbles as an extension of the 'beach'? Sorry to be so clueless!

hi i have a large pond with lots of fish big and small,this to me dose not interfere with wildlife my pond was teeming with all sorts of wildlife this year,dragonflys i lost count and that is with a net over the top because of herons,as for pebbles on the bottom dont waste your money they will be covered with silt in the first year,my pond has a filter box at one end and a waterfall at the other,no problems that i have seen,get lots of under water plants this will keep your water nice its all a matter of balance, how many fish to plants to water,good luck anyway.
