hi buit my pond over two years ago now but where will have been walking over the slabs across the pond for a short cut a couple have come a biy loose so i need to re cement them back in does any one now what the best mix is cos i forgot?

just normal a bag of cemente a bag of sharp sand, mix 4 shovels of sand to 1 cemente mix well with soapy water and there you go.

yep it helps bind the cement and sand. when i say soap i mean like washing up liquid.

washing up liquid wont be very good in your pond,have you got fish in it if so it will kill them also it wont be good for the critters that live in the water.

Neither will the cement. Inevitably some will go in the pond, can't be helped. Alternatively, you could walk all the way round.
Can I ask a question? How much does time does the short cut take?

Don't use the short cut no more but where the slabs have moved and dipped i need to re cement them back into place after building them up a bit cos it's losing a bit of water where it's sunk.

i wouldn't bother with washing up liquid thats only realy used for brick laying instead of feb bond
if you want a real strong mix add some pva glue to mix
also mix some with water and brush the slabs with it first
as they say sticks like glue
mix sand and cement together first. two sand one cement add pva then add water to make a dry mix. make sure its a dry mix then there is less chance of it falling into pond. you can then add a few sprinkles of water to smooth it out with you trowel and bond it in

Just finished cementing the slab tried my best to keep cement out of the water but the odd little bit went in.
How long does it take to dry?
