| | | Recycling old CD & DVDs - how? I am about to copy all my files to a second portable drive, and I have lots! of old CD & DVD discs with photos etc that I won't then want to keep.
What's the best way to dispose of those that aren't rewritable?

Ive seen these in gardens, hanging up,like mobiles (for babies,,,not phones!)
People use them as reflectors on their gate ways too |

| | | Re: Recycling old CD & DVDs - how? I wonder what type of plastic they are made of?
They are layered so you have a plastic disc and on top of that is the reflective film coating, so if a centre were to strip that coating off 99% of the weight of the disc is pure clear plastic. Surprised a facility doesnt exist for that actually! |

I store all my photos on an internal hard drive, back them up to an external hard drive and then make two copies on DVD - one stored here and the other off site.

Dave P. | The only thing different that I do is that I have 2 external hard drives, as well as a 3rd portable one which is great as a back up for the laptop when I'm on holiday. Are we paranoid or just careful?

| | | Re: Recycling old CD & DVDs - how? I do have them all on an external hard drive and I am copying to a second as we 'speak'. I found occasionally with CDs that when I tried to read them I got a message that the disc was empty or similar. I only have images on the discs. Documents I have on USBs, the most important are password protected.
Don't have anything of earth-shattering importance, just wouldn't like to lose them
