| | | Britain's Hidden Carbon Footprint Every day we hear of one story or another on how China continues to pollute the atmosphere, well it does, making things for us.
We only have to look around our homes, to see the full impact of what comes from China.
We need to stop blaming everyone else, for our greedy needs. |

| | | Re: Britain's Hidden Carbon Footprint except that if they didnt sell it here they'd sell it somewhere else - and china is not alone in using a lot of fuel an resources in a manufacturing base (see americas stats for example)
i agree that we should consume less - but suggesting that britain is responsible for china's carbon footprint is ridiculous. (the majority of their carbon footprint is in power generation and construction anyway )

| | | Re: Britain's Hidden Carbon Footprint We must all trade to keep our economies working even with people we have grievances with. Without china we could face millions of job losses if their economy crashed. In an ideal world we could sustain our own country but unfortunately we rely on other economies to sustain ours.
While we are buying things from them they also need us, without, their economy crashes. That is the influence we have on them. We can only try to persuade them that their use of carbon is detrimental. There is no quick fix to the state that the environment is in and you are right it is caused through greed. I won't be here to see the rewards of our campaigning for greener alternatives but my children will. It will take a long time to change life unless we go back to living in caves and develop fur to keep us warm.
What we have in our homes is a drip in the ocean and once you have it the damage has been done. We can only change tomorrow and tomorrow is happening all around us. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
