Thanks xxx | We're not allowed to advertise on here, however, if you google 'top soil for sale mid glamorgan' it'll give you an aberdare number and a bridgend one amongst others. Lovely to see someone else from this area on WAB.

| | | Re: Cheap top soil?? be careful especially in your area as im sure your aware you in a knotweed hot spot area. cheap soil can often come from cowboys that are trying to avoid paying the correct landfill charges for dealing with this waste.
you often see people on freecycle asking if people want soil before they cart it off for dumping and then topdressing a landfill or being screened and sold in warehouse sheds

I think The Woodman has a fair point, as yourself if they are really passing a genuine bargian on to you, or simply trying to avoid high disposal costs that would be associated with a waste material. I have been aware of instances where material that should have been classified as hazardous waste, and disposed of appropriately, being sold as recycled materials. Fortunately in those cases it was sorted out properly in the end, but what about the times when nobody thought to ask. |

| | | Re: Cheap top soil?? Have to say that the thin waste-coal-rich soils of RCT have produced some of the most interesting and botanically diverse habitats I've seen. Often stuffed full of lichens too. I love brownfield regeneration because often so does wildlife!
I spent years working in the Rhondda on land stability sites and really enjoyed it. An amazing place for raptors once you get to the tops of the valleys.
