Seemed to have slipped into fly tipping and waste here on this thread, partially responsible meself,but back to the original posts of lanterns (2nd original post) i see that farmers want them banned, manufactures say (some) they will make them bio degradable, good compromise but still deadly to cattle as even if they use an alterative to the wire, theres still the issue of the bamboo, also there was no mention of balloons being banned as people have gone from those to lanterns, so that still leaves again the danger to marine life,fishermen are just as much the stewards of the seas as farmers are to the land, and are all part of the same ministery, why dont they stick together? if the fishermen were losing money because of this i suspect it would be a different story,if there are any trawlermen on this site id be gratefull for your opinion on this, plus im not tarring fishermen with the same brush as there are quite a few out there that work on and respect the sea and its inhabitants, ( smillee)
