| | | Shampoo bottles for instance... Following on from an earlier thread, I don't use much in the way of household cleaners (as one good look around my house will tell you) I too use white vinegar and Ecover products where possible.I get psoriasis and have to be extra careful with any chemicals, especially shampoos Something you might find interesting, some years ago I was told of a trick used by manufacturers of stuff like shampoo,to make people use more of it ,with very little cost to them (the manufacturers) No, they don't add water , No,they don't change the size of the bottle. They simply make the hole in the bottle BIGGER and we all use more without realizing it. More shampoo means more plastic bottles and more waste . Crafty lot , of course profits usually come before everything. |

| | | Re: Shampoo bottles for instance... My most recently-purchased kids shampoo bottle has a flip-top opening, and then underneath that are two kind of rubbery lips that are normally closed. You have to squeeze fairly hard to get any out, and the quite a bit come out at a time -- much more than you need for kids' hair. I won't be buying this one again... |

Personally ,I would'nt buy their stuff again.
But,hey,it's up to you. |

| | | Re: Shampoo bottles for instance... I don't buy the 'if the hole is bigger, we don't realise that we use more' drivel, What a load of tosh- I think the person using the product should be the judge of how much is used. It's not like shampoo has a magic ability in which a lesser volume looks like more- squeezing shampoo from a bottle is a completely manual thing.
If you've reached the point in your life where you are evaluating your shampoo usage, then... |

| | | Re: Shampoo bottles for instance... As a newbie, can I resurrect this thread with something relevant? By far the most efficient way to wash hair - especially if it's long and straight, like mine is to comb it first and remove all tangles. Then squirt shampoo into your hand , a teaspoonful does me, and mix with a little warm water. Wet your hair or apply the shampoo to dry hair if it's really mucky. Keep your hair long and apply the shampoo as if you were sponging down fabric. DON'T TANGLE IT ON THE TOP OF YOUR HEAD. The amount of lather produced this way is minimal and it rinses clean easily. Use the same principle for conditioner and when drying it, don't tangle it either. Advertisments show people tangling thousands of individual hairs together, piling the hair on top of the head, thereby breaking the hairs and making more money for the people who make super-expensive conditioners to mend broken hair.
Clever tricks these ad people use.
( I got this info from a book by Dr Adam Hart- Davis, btw who sourced it from experts.) | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
