Do you recycle your phone?

Up to 600kg (21,000oz) of gold and silver are being thrown away in Britain every year because mobile phone users are not recycling their handsets, according to the world's largest processor of electronic waste.

There's gold in them thar' mobiles, but Britons fail to answer the recycling call

I have several old phones when i think about it.All in a drawer.I never thought about getting rid of them.

I've had the same phone for 6 years...works perfectly and is there if I need it to phone the AA if I break down in the middle of nowhere.Apart from that it is rarely used...This mobile phone thing has gone way over the top like everything else,and is now a fashion accessory.
I have nothing to recycle....sorry.

There is a facility for recycling old phones for our local Air Ambulance, but only used it once! Worth checking on Google if it applies to your area too. Certainly a worthwhile cause.

You can do it for the RSPB as well - a number of charities offer the option as a way to support them.

The only mobile that's older than mine is two tin cans and a length of string. I only use it in emergencies so have no use for the extras on today's modern phones.

I've had my Nokia for years but it works fine (amazingly) and does exactly what I want it to do, which is send and receive texts and make the odd call.

I'm surprised it's still going TBH, coz it's had a bit of hard life up to now.
I had to glue two of the little key pads back on a while ago and a few of the numbers are just about worn away.
It got drowned in the bottom of my rucksack once when I walked in heavy rain for several hours (I forgot my rucksack cover

) and began making all sorts of noises I hadn't heard before

I took it apart and put the bits in the airing cupboard over night. I really thought it wouldn't work after that....but it recovered!
It's been dropped many times, has a few scratches on the screen......but
I'm not giving up on it!!!

Ive had mine for about 8 years, I think its still on the credit I got it with (second hand even then) - its just for emergencies, but I never have any, yet . . . . . . . .!
Did ring home from the top of Ben Nevis once - just for fun though.
Seriously, I read this too in the paper and was amazed, so well worth helping charities with recycling your old ones, but not me!
