Chap at work makes huge mats for his dog to lie on in the car when it (the dog

)gets wet /muddy they also serve when the car gets bogged down

Why dont you just give the bag of string back to the postman and say " Oi....this is yours"...then he can re use it rather than using new string?

Hi, yes it is plastic string but our recycling center only takes clear plastic (crazy, I know) and this stuff is blue, so I am getting quite inventive with it. I wont give it back to the newsagent because then he'll throw it in the bin as is and that's no good, So I think I'll be getting a couple of new hobbies this year. Thanks for the advice. Fi. X X X X

Hi everyone I know I started this ages ago but I just thought I'd tell you that the string has been a huge success with the birds I hung a small basket on my sycamore tree with a load of nice soft fur from my dog, some ribbon and a load of this darn string and now I'm happy to report that there will be a fair few blue nests in my area, they took the string and left everything else. Should plastic string be put out for birds. It will never rot down and can entangle around the birds feet..Can't it

Ahh yes i forgot it was plastic string....eek...oh well...maybe it will become a feature of her local countryside?....

Yes...only natural string should be put out for birds to use in all fairness.

she did say it was shredded up so it ought to be okay , but on the whole natural string is better - that said one of our local crows has a nest virtually entirely made out of tesco carrier bags !

One of the most casual and sloppy nesters is the wood pigeon. I have seen a tale about a nest made of about six 6" nails. Ah, the comfort!
