| | | Mooncup I've just recieved a mooncup which I ordered from ethicalsuperstore.com. The aim is for females to use it during menstruation, it last 7 years and replaces sanitary wear, thereby reducing landfill waste and keeping your body healthy. I wondered if anyone has used it so far, (my friend swears by it). also it may be something males on the site can pass on to their female partners. Just think of how many females use sanitary wear over a 30 years plus of their life, how much landfill is that
Here's link for interested parties Mooncup Menstrual Cup

| | | Re: girlie mooncup my daughter bought one this week and phoned in a panic because it had got "lost" and thought she would have to go to the doc for help However it was ok in the end...they take a bit of practice it seems.... and a great saving of money and for anyone who saw the tv prog about sewers where they were saying about what clogs them up more than anything, brilliant idea Need to think of an alternative to nappies next |

| | | Re: girlie mooncup I do alot with Afonydd Glan/Clean Rivers. An excellent project, amongst other things, they help local groups clean up stretches of rivers. I have participated in many a clean up, and i can't remember an event where we have'nt come across sanitory wear.
Most of or sewer pipes run along the rivers, with open grid manholes along their length. The sanitory wear very regularly snags up, causing a blockage. This then forces all manner of stuff to flow into the rivers, through the grided manholes. This is not only unslightly to see, but it contributes to a fast crash in invert life, then resulting in a loss in fish population.
So they have got my vote.
Regards Christian. |

| | | Re: girlie mooncup Hi G,
My wife reckons it takes some getting use to with practice, particularly putting it in. She thought that eventually it was alright (a positive experience to use her words) and then she fell pregnant with our son. One thing she did say was that the comfort of it was not instant as with tampons.
Cheers,

| | | Re: girlie mooncup I have one and have been using it for the past 8 months. I think is is absolutley fantastic. I have say though i bought mine in Canada so it is not called the mooncup, it is a diva cup, made with the same material and almost identical shape.
At first it took a little practice to use quickly. You have to try out different folds as there are many which may suit different people.
I swear by it for comfort, ease of use (at first you may not agree with this one), good for the environment as it lasts for years, good on the wallet over time, you cant feel it when its is being used and i would never go back to other sanitary methods.
I think every woman should use one of these, i cant recommend them enough! |
