| | | Scrapstore There is a Scrapstore in Wiltshire based in Lacock.
Wiltshire Scrapstore & Resource Centre It is a registered charity. It collects waste from industry that is suitable for use in creative play and learning. Adults and children can go into the Centre and fill up a sack with amazing things and just give a donation. It also runs worshops and goes all over the county - 20 areas a month- providing a mobile scrapstore with trainers who run creative sessions.
Before you buy new resources check to see if there is a scrapstore in your area its a great way to teach people to reuse resources. Wiltshire Scrapstore and Resource Centre People don't realise what fantastic reusable waste is going into the ground from the commercial world. Card, paper, fabrics, coloured sticky backed plastic, foils, threads etc...........

| | | Re: Scrapstore The Scrapstores around the country do not all operate in the same way. The Wiltshire one encourages anyone working /living with/caring for children and young people to use their services, this includes familes, child minder, schools, parent toddler groups pre scholls students etc. They also support the adults and teach them new and exciting ways of reusing resources with the children. It also enables those working with the elderly and adults with specific needs to use it as well. It provides volunteering opportunites and work experience. Its worth checking out where the closest scrapstore is in your area and how they operate. The Wiltshire one has started doing birthday parties that include a creative activity based on the birthday childs choice of theme, they have great fun and at the end they get given an empty party bag which they then go and fill up from the scrapstore so they can carry on making at home. The Charity has been running for about 9 years. Their web site is Wiltshire Scrapstore and Resource Centre if you google scrapstore you will find the one in yoru area. Happy creating! |

| | | Re: Scrapstore The local Playgroup where I work has been members of our nearest Scrapstore for years. We go over there once a term and get lots of goodies for the kid's craftwork. We've got loads of useful stuff in the past - which reminds me I must organise a visit, as we are in the village carnival next month, so time to stock up on stuff for the float! | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
