| | | Rubbish Tip to Wildlife Area Residents, including children, volunteered to clear this woodland area which had become a notorious fly-tipping area.
A five-year woodland regeneration project in one of the biggest estates in north Wales has been completed with the opening of a foot bridge.
The new bridge links foot paths through what used to be a "no-go" area for people living on the Maesgeirchen estate on the outskirts of Bangor. BBC NEWS | Wales | 'No-go' woods now wildlife haven
Lovely project. Let's hope we have more of the same across the country.

| | | Re: New wildlife area It's good to see projects like this. It makes a difference when a community is given the chance to take possession of a run down area and make it their own together. I does keep vandalism and the yobs on the run, as there are eyes watching them. Some of them (the yobs) may even be enlightened enough by something wholesome and good, to turn around themselves and join in with the care.
I know an area where this has happened over the last 7 years and the village and wildlife have benefited greatly from it.
Thank goodness it wasn't bulldozed and another housing project placed there just exacerbating the problem.
Good on them. I hope they really enjoy their new found haven.
