Volunteer clean-ups.

We've just arrived home from an annual bay clean up that we do locally. About a couple of dozen volunteers turned up for this very worthwhile task. When we arrived, the strand line of the shore was thick with mainly plastic items that have floated down the Thames and got caught in the many bays and creeks along the North Kent Marshes.
When we left-with a truck load, it looked so much better and with so many volunteers clearing the rubbish, the job got done quickly.

I'm really just plugging how important, doing a little bit for the environment, makes so much difference. It's actually, good fun, a good social event, rewarding and costs you nothing but a bit of your time.

If you get the chance, go on one...you'll feel good for it.

Jules

PS-You do bump into the odd WABbite...Yellowhammer was there too .

Re: Volunteer clean-ups.

I use to help regularly on the beach down home, we use to get together a couple of times before the summer season started, then twice during summer season, then again in october after all tourists had gone home... We also use to do one off trips after there had been severe weather or storms, as it was unbelievable what got washed up during a storm.
yes it is very satisfying seeing the difference a few people can make in just a few hours, and have a laugh while doing it..
Jules can you let me know if there is another one in kent. I would love to join in

Re: Volunteer clean-ups.

Well done Julie .... good effort.

The Thames shoreline always seems to be strewn with all sorts of rubbish, including some unsavoury and dangerous items.

You have done the Kent side. I guess I need to find out how to join in and sort the Essex side out!

Richard

Re: Volunteer clean-ups.

Mmm. I wonder if Essex rubbish is any different from Kent rubbish.

We found tennis balls and even a bowling ball!

I've thought of a joke. But not for WAB.
