I've looked at the website: Southern Upland Way - The Official Website, Walking, Coast to Coast, South of Scotland, Hiking, Trekking, SUW
If you use the Explorer series O.S. maps, you'll need 13 of them. If you use the Landranger series, you'll only need 8.
I sometimes wonder if these walks are devised by the Ordnance Survey in order to sell maps!
;^)

| | | Re: The Southern Upland Way I'm still not decided as yet, I still think about the AW Coast to Coast, bit more easier than SUW. |

| | | Re: The Southern Upland Way It was around November time, last year, that I ordered two copies of the Southern Upland Way accommodation guide for information about camp-sites and back-ground information regarding post offices, shops, pubs etc.
It was in early December, that I decided to back out of the Southern Upland Way and wanting to do some cycling instead or coast to coast walk as.
It was a week after, the accommodation guide's arrived in the post and I kept them for future reference, I text my mate to say, I would send one copy in the post to him in the New Year.
My mate, text me to say thank's for the guide. I thought about a re-think about doing the Southern Upland Way and text my mate, to say if I could join him on the walk, that he said yes and would be glad of the company from me.
So, the dates are hopefully lodged with the boss and now looking to the SUW in May. The SUW is a coast to coast walk, only a little longer at 212 miles. It is tougher than the Wainwright's coast to coast and the highest point is 2362', but not as high as Kidsty Pike @ 2558'.
I would of loved to do the Wainwright's coast to coast, but I felt I've done this walk too many times and felt that the SUW would make a nice change. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
