| | | A Pennine Journey Whilst watching on BBC iplayer, the Old Grey Whistle Test. It was that I went through the A-Z of the iplayer backlog and came to W, that was a programme namely Pennine Journey. It was a interesting programme and would love to buy the book.
But, that gave me a great idea of a cycling tour, to follow the course of the Pennine Journey. This would be about 211+ miles. |

| | | Re: A Pennine Journey Great news, that I've got the outline of route plotted onto Memory map, working out at 215. But should works out about 250 miles on the outside. A ideal week long cycling of the Yorkshire Dales, Eden Valley, Northumberland and the North Pennines. Yes, it passes through Westgate. |

| | | Re: A Pennine Journey Been on the memory-map, this morning, reviewing the route. So, I've been altering it to my liking and comes to 365 miles and guess it will be about 400 miles at the uppermost, once the route is ironed out.
It really looks like a decent cycle ride and one I'm really pleased with after a lot of cycling in the Yorkshire Dales and the North Pennines from past years and will bring back some happy memories.
This tour should take me roughly about 8 days and have extended it to Whitby.
Hoping, I don't change my mind about this one. |

| | | Re: A Pennine Journey The itinerary is now in draft form and should seven days to complete.
The route is still in draft form and needs to be finalized before saving to the hard drive.
The average mileage is about 50 miles per day and that is ideal for cycle-camping.
Once, the route is sorted, I will put it on here. |

| | | Re: A Pennine Journey Yes, the route is now sorted and has come to a nice 7 days of cycling.
The memory map gave a total of 385 miles, averaging 50 miles a day.
Although, it's based on the Pennine Journey, I've adjusted to what I thought what's best for me.
Well, it's looking this on paper.
Stockton to Muker via Bowes.
Muker to Appletreewick via Kettlewell.
Appletreewick to Kirkby Stephen via Settle.
Kirkby Stephen to Greehead via Alston.
Greenhead to Westgate via Blanchland.
Westgate to Ingleby Cross via Barnard Castle.
Ingleby Cross to Whitby via Esk Valley.
There it go's. I hope to have more detail on the route. But it looks good. |
