| | | Re: A few of the Derbyshire Dales After lunch, we headed along the dale towards Ravensdale - my favourite part of the walk..... One last look at Cressbrook Dale... Then into Ravensdale, bone dry after such a dry Spring... Ravensdale Cottages, with the cliffs behind.... After leaving Ravensdale, we took a path that is normally only used by climbers to access the cliffs.
Ya see, I've always wanted to continue along the river just to see how far I can get - instead of having to walk on the road to Cressbrook Mill.
A dry Spring/Summer is the only time it's possible to do it!! Or so I thought.... After walking along the rocky river bed for a while, we came to a steep drop that would become a waterfall during the Winter. Unfortunately, it was too steep for us to get down, although you can't really SEE that from the photo!!... We climbed up the bank and came down further along, where I was really surprised to see more cliffs and caves!... Then, we saw water ahead....... We stood on the stones to start with but as the water got deeper, we soon realised we weren't gonna get any further this way. Annoyingly for me, we climbed back up the steep bank - again - and onto the remaining bit of road.
The Castle type cottage at Cressbrook Mill Then into Water-cum-jolly Dale... From Water-cum-jolly, we followed the river until we reached Litton Mill... And then walked along Millers Dale from the opposite end and back to the cars....
Hope you enjoyed and thanks for looking!
Tracey

| | | Re: A few of the Derbyshire Dales Lovely photos of a lovely walk Sunny.
Shame to see Ravensdale totally dry, but still lovely with those flowers.
And how did you get the photo of Ravensdale Cottages? Not like a Yeti did once I hope! LOL! (Lying on the ground in all the mud ).
Do love those Dales Sunny. With the running water and the Dippers...........
