| | | Snowdonia trips? I've often thought about climbing Snowdonia but no else I now shares the same passion. Does anyone know of organized trips/holidays that are based of the climb? Or any volunteer work that works around the mountain enabling me to climb it during the days there? |

I don't know of any organised trips I'm afraid, but we climbed Snowdon last year. It was one of the busiest mountains we have ever climbed.
Just to give you an idea, there is a cafe at the top which gets absolutely packed. Some people favour the train to the top (which is great for kids). I think if you do decide to do it, you won't feel too alone if you don't go with a group. |

You'll probably get some useful info here..... Walking Forum - Index
And once you register, you'll probably find some like minded folk willing to climb Snowdon with you!

In fact, Snowdon rates amongst the most beautiful mountains in the world. The most famous and most scenic route is via the Pyg and Miner's Tracks from Pen-y-pass, Start at the car park at Pen-y-pass (grid ref. SH 647555) .
Grade - moderate/hard.
Length - 7.5 miles / 12.2 km. By far the best for first-timers, but start early and do try and pick a clear day! This route gives you some of the grandest mountain scenery in North Wales.
I look at Snowdon's majestic peak everyday, who would not want to climb it.
So I say Colarris, 'you go for it'. If I was 10 years younger I'd love to join you.
Dorts.

| | | Re: Snowdonia trips? last time i went up the hill was just before the new café opened
i took the Pyg track and it was a long line of people from the overflowing car park to the top.
you could not see the the summit carn as it was covered in folks. it was amazing the number of people taking toy dogs up and also walking in completely unsuitable tennis shoes etc
its a nice hill to walk up, but best avoiding school holidays and weekends as it can be very busy

| | | Re: Snowdonia trips? Hi, we went up the Pyg Pass & back via the Miners track as Dorts suggested about 5 years ago. We did have to go in school holidays & it was busy. We started early 7am as it was so hot. The view as you come up from the zig-zag steps over to the other side was simply stunning
Your very lucky Dorts to live in such fantastic surroundings.
