| | | Peak District walking Hi there,
You'll have to forgive me if this is in the wrong forum I was just wondering if anyone has any experience of walking to the Chestnut Centre in the Peak District? I know this is not strictly wildlife, but I'm keen on having a short holiday in the Peaks and wanted to combine a visit to the Chestnut Centre in here. Lacking a car, I was wondering if anyone knew whether it was walkable from Edale or not; I would prefer not to get a taxi as that takes away the enjoyment of walking through the countryside (plus costs extra money!) lol. Any advice would be welcome |

| | | Re: Peak District walking Well, I've never walked that way, but I've just measured it and it's around 4.5 miles, 1000ft of ascent, one way, so yes, depending on your fitness. You probably walk a mile or so around the centre too, so you're looking at 10 miles in total. |

| | | Re: Peak District walking Walking over from Edale wouldn't be a problem. I'd go via Jacobs Ladder and Edale Cross (the 'saddle' between Kinder and Rushup Edge). It sounds like a half decent walk.

Jim | It's been awhile for me as well, but I do recall similar obstacles.

| | | Re: Peak District walking I visited the Chestnut centre a few years ago and was a bit disappointed to be honest. Not that much to see!
The otters were lovely though!
