Well, the route is looking like this and one I would like to stick to:
Whitby - Scarborough - Bridlington - Yorkshire Wolds - York - Ripon - Grassington - Settle - Kirkby Lonsdale - Carnforth - Arnside - Ulverston - Coniston - Elterwater - Grasmere - Dunmail Raise - Keswick - Buttermere - Ennerdale - St. Bees - Whitehaven - Silloth - Bowness on Solway - Carlisle - Dalston - Penrith - Hartside - Alston - Ninebanks - Allendale Town - Allenheads - Rookhope - Eastgate - Westgate - Newbiggin Common - Middleton in Teesdale - Cotherstone - Bowes - Sleightholme Moor - Tan Hill - Keld - Gunnerside - Reeth - Richmond - Catterick Bridge - Middleton Tyas - Croft on Tees - Appleton Wiske - Crathorne - Great Ayton - Commondale - Sleights - Whitby.
Now I need to plot the route on Memory Map and set my daily mileage.
Should be interesting. | The double coast to coast bike ride is still on, much of the route is as above. Although Carlisle is omitted. Do have a look on my blog. A Seaside Pedal with a Piece of Pennine & Yorkshire Rock |

Got a paperback from Sue Ryder shop yesterday for 50p called Cycling in the Yorkshire Dales, some cracking routes. So, may use some for my double coast to coast. One idea is to go further south into Knaresborough, Harrogate, Otley and Ilkley. Then re-join Way of the Roses route at Settle. |

| | | Re: Coast to Coast Bike 2011,not thinking properly. Hey Foxy,
Nice places to ride around Lancaster would include:
Knott End on Sea to Conder Green, there is a cycle path from Conder Green to St Georges Quay in Lancaster, could be a bit rough/muddy in parts
Along the seafront between Heysham and Morecambe, not sure if it's allowed but nobody has been too bothered since they held the prologue for the Tour of Lancashire there. Lovely, if short, cycle.
Trough of Bowland (as you've already noted), perhaps back by Cross of Greet?
Lune Gorge (Sedbergh to Tebay, or the other way if you want to go downhill?)
Asby Scar (Hutton Roor, near Kirkby Lonsdale, is similar but busier and less nice)
Lyth valley road into the lakes (Milnthorpe to Bowness)
I suspect you already have noted Ingleton to hawes, under the Ribbleshead viaduct.
If you want to add mileage, you could head for Galloway, although I guess there could be a day of slogging to get to places like Leadhills or New Galloway, which could make it impractical.
Cheers,
