| | | Cleveland Way 2010 I'm now planning on walking the Cleveland Way, due to the Coast to Coast walk now being moved to the Autumn time.
I'm hoping to do the Cleveland Way either late April or May, possible early July. I was supposed of done the Cleveland Way last year but having checked the Moors Bus times, I'm now able to get to Helmsley from Teesside on the Sunday, which is good news.
I will be back-packing the route and looking at 7 days to complete the 110 miles. |

Day 5. Hinderwell to Robin Hood's Bay - 17 miles.
Day 6. Robin Hood's Bay to Scarborough -12 miles.
Day 7. Scarborough to Filey - 12 miles. |

| | | Re: Cleveland Way 2010 I was tempting on the idea of wild-camping the Cleveland Way with my Vaude Bivvy Tent and using using the Go-Lite Jam2 rucksack.
If that's going to be it, then I need to suss out a few wild-camp spots. I know of some and probably head inland on the yorkshire coastline.
However, no problem with the plentiful of camp-sites, there is two sites that are free to use.
But, wild-camping is free and next to nature.
I will need to think otherwise what is best. |

Hope you have a great walk.

| | | Re: Cleveland Way 2010 Whilst cycling to work this afternoon, thoughts of doing the Cleveland Way sprung to mind.
I was thinking on the idea of using the Laser Comp Fly to keep weight, but I did get another tent called Banshee 300 by Vango. It's a 3-man tent and loads of room, that would be ideal for sitting inside with my Therm-a-Rest Compack chair drinking lager.
However, that is 2.5 kg in weight, mmm bit heavy. So, I thought of using the Fly-only method, my, it will be very big inside. |

| | | Re: Cleveland Way 2010 Coast to Coast walk might be scrapped, a possible change of plans. The Cleveland may now be in September, c/w with the Tabular Hills link. The Coast to Coast will probably be scrapped altogether, due to planning a week's walking the Pennine Way from Hebden Bridge to Middleton in Teesdale with one of the lads I met last year on the Coast to Coast. He is doing the whole of the Pennine Way. |

| | | Re: Cleveland Way 2010 Hi foxy.
When i went backpacking I used a Phoenix Phreak tent. It was lightweight durable and tough. Got it when I was 18 and still use it today. Busted the plastic clip that holds the 2 poles that make the A frame whilst in scotland and had to mend it with some cord and a bent tent peg! As phoenix tents went bust I had to make a new fitting out of a piece of bent steel inside a plastic tube with a bit of bungee cord. Still works fine.

| | | Re: Cleveland Way 2010 Hi Dave. I've a A-pole attachment which was part of a Saunder's Jet-Packer Plus. I don't know if it's any good to you, just a thought. |

I would rather do the whole of the Pennine Way and to be honest, I really have my heart set on doing the Coast to Coast (again) in September and would be disappointed and feeling left down, if I don't do it.
As for the Cleveland Way, again, I have my heart set on doing it. So, my mate will be a Billy no-Mates on his Pennine Way. He mentioned about doing Offa's Dyke next year, but I'm going back to my beloved cycle-touring and hope to plan a 2 week tour of Northern Scotland for next year.
Yes, I will be happy to get the Cleveland Way and Coast to Coast done. |

| | | Re: Cleveland Way 2010 Well, my dates for the Cleveland Way are now finalised and with another 4 weeks to go, I need to get sorted with some training and getting the gear sorted.
I'm starting at Helmsley and ofcause finish in Filey. I could start the walk at Saltburn by the Sea, but Helmsley seems the better bet.
I will be camping and probably using the pubs/chip shops enroute and ofcause will be taking photos and write a day-by-day report.
Yes, I'm really looking forward to this walk, it's 24 years ago since I've last did it and will bring back some happy memory's since then.
Anyway, I will probably jot a gear list on here near the time. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
