| | | My last walks on Kinder..... ....at least, until next week!!!
Just thought I'd post a few shots from my walks on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday - all involving Kinder Scout - but via different ascents/descents.
Still plenty of snow and ice around, especially in the deep groughs on the plateau.
Crowden and Grindsbrook Cloughs are great fun to climb and although not as tough as gill scrambling in the Lakes, it's still a challenge negotiating rocks, boulders and small waterfalls!
The weather was fabulous, with a near white out occuring on Monday after a sunny start - and before a sunny end to the day!
Tuesday and Thursday were just prefect, with sunshine and blue skies all the way!
It actually felt quite strange walking along the plateau in snow and ice wearing only a sleevless vest! (and trousers, of course! LOL)
Anyway, enough of that......
Here are the photos from Monday, with the last two showing the snow storm closing in..... Tuesday.... More to follow........

Now there is a hill of some distinction and character. With all the work done on the summit plateau in recent years, it looks very different to my first bog-trots there in the 1980s and early 1990s.

Without the flags, reaching the trig-point was extremely difficult except in the driest conditions. Kinder and Bleaklow are superior uplands, but I have lots of happy Black Hill memories.

| | | Re: My last walks on Kinder..... Hi Tracey,
Thank you for posting these smashing photos. I personally, have never visited Kinder in the snow; your images however have surely wetted my appetite though. In saying that I don't suppose the snow will be around for much longer, so I just might have to wait until next winter before I can experience similar conditions. It'll be worth the wait though, especially if I could capture a few similar shots myself. Thanks again for posting.
Bran
