Sadly the sign is no longer there, this was taken in the 1980's about the 1983 time. |

July 1995 east to west (20 hrs -solo unsupported) | I was wild camping on the N Yorks moors back in 1972 whilst doing the Cleveland Way as a young lad with my family. I remember a night with loads of people tramping past our tents even though we were in the middle of nowhere. So, cheers Foxy for my interrupted night's sleep Have fun again this time around. |

| | | Re: Lyke Wake Walk Seems to bring back some happy memories when I last did the Lyke Wake Walk in July 1995 on a west to east crossing. I had the idea of bivving somewhere along the route around the Clay Bank area and settled for a spot on top of Hasty Bank under a cliff ledge. I would of started about 9:00pm and got to Hasty bank around 12:00am and thought I would get 4 hours kip until 4:00 or first light and get going again. But, once in the bivvy bag and snugged down under the cliff ledge, I could hear voices nearby, guessing there were walkers doing the Lyke Wake Walk. Them were the days. |

| | | Re: Lyke Wake Walk Seeing, I never did the Lyke Wake Walk last year as planned. However, I'm hoping to walk it next month, date TBA, also weather condition's permitting.
I will be walking the route in 2/3 days, using a bivi tent. I dearly would love to do the walk in under 24 hour's just for the sake of it, but that would be best suited to the warmer month's with more day-light hour's, say June or July time.
One idea, is omit my plan's of cycling the coast to coast and do the LWW instead and have a few days in Goathland and visit Beck Hole as well in the same week.
Anyway, I will what will happen next month, if we get the snow or not. |

| | | Re: Lyke Wake Walk I'm seeing the boss tomorrow to decide my dates for the planned Lyke Wake Walk. I'm hoping to get my mate to tag along with me, otherwise, I'm on a solo crossing. I'm hoping to complete the crossing in under 24 hours for the eight time, so I need to start some planning. |

| | | Re: Lyke Wake Walk As mentioned in the last thread, that I'm planning to walk the 42 mile Lyke Wake Walk with a friend. This is to be in July and will be done in under 24 hours. I will see on how I fare with the Coast to Coast and decide if the Lyke Wake Walk is for me, if not, then it's back to cycling double coast to coast. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
