| | | LeJogPlod2010 For the last six months i have been planning an attempt at the lands end to John o groats walk.
Quite a few are attempting this each year and have written blogs as they travel so i have entered the world of blogging in which i have placed route, map, and various planning details. LeJogPlod2010
Now it's a question of are my legs up to it.

On my blog is my route in 69 walking stages, but that dosen't mean i will stick absolutely to them as i feel the weather (and fatique) could alter them.
I know one person is setting of this spring reckoning on 45 walking days (oh! fit or what).
Also distance makes a difference, i've planned appox 1050 mile route, it can be a hundred miles shorter, also some make it considerably longer.

Gary | Ah you have spotted the hill effect, the plus side is that in general the wind will be behind me, quite a difference in horizontal rain which i will be quite happy to see missing from this spring summer.

Cheers J.P. | Nothing so adventurous as LeJog on there I'm afraid - the most I've done is a week walking The Dales Way or The Cumbria Way.
I've read several blogs by people who've walked LeJog and would love to do it myself sometime (probably just a pipe dream!). I once met someone who'd done it - he'd not gone the traditional way, but had linked up a number of long-distance paths, a much longer but possibly more interesting route. I think he included The Great English Walk from Chepstow to Berwick, I know he highly recommended it (so much so that I bought the guide books!). I think he took about three months to do LeJog, but I don't know how many rest days he had.
Just had a quick flick through your blog, very interesting. On one walk you mentioned a 'cold harbour farm' - no, I don't know where the name comes from but there's a Coldharbour Farm (and Little Coldharbour Farm) at Ashridge on the Bucks/Herts border (coincidentally where I was walking today, though I didn't go by the farms).
BTW, the Eggheads on the popular BBC2 quiz show really struggled to work out what the abbreviation LeJog stood for! |
