| | | Derwent Edge walk This little fellow accompanied me for a short time on a recent walk I did, he obviously knew the shooting season had finished for this year. I did in fact spot quite a few others as well on this particular day in the Peak District; I don't think I've actually ever got this close to one before though. Beautiful colours don't you think? |

| | | Re: Derwent Edge walk Aye, Derwent Edge is well known for it's semi-tame Grouse
Had my path blocked by one a few years ago, everytime I walked around it and stopped, the Grouse overtook me and stood right in my path again, no more than a few feet from me
Never did work out quite what it wanted from me though |

| | | Re: Derwent Edge walk Up on Derwent Edge yesterday.
Grouse are getting a bit testy and territorial now it seems.
A number were determined to follow us and came very close. Shortly after the 2nd pic that one got my gloved finger in its beak and beat my hand with its wings
Think i'll need to take a shotgun next time I'm up there
(That's a joke, by the way, if anyone was wondering...) |

| | | Re: Derwent Edge walk Ah! so that's what this strange behavior of theirs is all about, I'm not at all clued up on the behavior of the Red Grouse I'm afraid. Cheers for the info Richard.
