As I thought, I was too slow adding these panniers to my Xmas list. My OH readily informed that it had already been sent off to Santa. So I'll have to keep my eyes open in the sales and by my own...doh!

The Ortlieb are the bee's knee's for cycle-touring, like you say, 100% waterproof and very robust. The only downside of the Ortlieb's is no exterior pockets, to store first aid kit, tools, inner tubes etc. But you can buy the Ortlieb pockets, in which you use a template pattern, then punch a hole in the pannier bag and screw on the rail. I have the Ortlieb front and rear Roller Classic and rear Bike-Packer Classic. The rear Roller Classic I use for shopping, which I can get 4 shopping bags in, 2 in each pannier bag and ofcause the Bike Packer is used for touring and I believe Ortlieb have improved on that design, I have the older version.

Here is my bike with the Ortlieb bags minus bar-bag. This was taken up on Sleightholme Moor, 2 miles east of Tan Hill.

It's a Brooks B17 Standard, Honey. I got it from Settle Cycles about five years ago, also have a Brooks B17 Flyer in Black and use that for the mountain bike.

Strange but the photo makes the rivets look too big for a B17 Standard. Ate they the large copper ones?

Yes, I know of the larger copper rivet version, saw them at the York Cycle Show in June.
But, mine is the B17 Standard. Here is a close-up of mine.

Had vaude for the tour easy, was spacious but not fully hydro resistant! Been in touch with Ortlieb since and their on the job as it goes.

I got a Vaude Bivvy Tent this year and hope to try it out next year. Looks to be a well made tent, not sure about using it on my Coast to Coast MTB Ride next year, not for a fortnight. So looking like it's for the week-end training up on the North Yorkshire Moors.
