Also just a word of warning to anybody who is thinking of towing any sort of trailer. If you passed your car test after 1st Jan 1997 you will have to take another test (B+E) in order to legally tow a trailer. a lot of younger people are falling foul of this change in the law as Mum/Dad are allowed to tow the Caravan/Trailer/Horse Box as they passed there test before this date but Son/Daughter who have recently passed there test are not.

Ferret | I passed my driving test in February 1997 and at that time both my instructor and the test examiner told me about this change in the law. However, from what people have told me, it isn't something that is mentioned now. Perhaps driving instructors should be making sure their pupils are aware of it. |

Ferret | the B&E thing only applies to trailers over a certain MGW ( ithink 500kg - but dont quote me) - a few small trailer tents may fall under that weight
on the issue of travelling further afeild for the day , my solution would be to take a light weight motorbike on a back rack - if you have a bigger camper you also see people towing smart cars/seicentos etc on one of those racks that lifts the front wheels off the ground

Camping in a Tent is just wonderful, but I think as one gets Older One needs more comforts. When I met my Boyfriend 3 years ago he didn't even like the idea of Camping chairs, but I soon changed his mind, he thinks there great now. He was just a Sleeping Bag and Stove sorter man, didn't believe in comforts when it came to camping.
Camper-vans are simple, you arrive at your destination and put the kettle on, with Tents, you have to un-pack, put your accommodation up, make the bed, set the stove up, and then put the kettle on.
Watch this space for further developments... I'm dead excited... | Remember the limitations of a campervan or motorhome, look at the modern/ retro style of the Eriba caravans ( I am biased ) http://www.eribaforum.com
