Walking in Jersey

I wonder if anyone has experience of safe walking in Jersey. The last time we visited we found that we had to walk on the busy roadside sometimes, as there was no alternative apparent - say from St Helier to Gorey. A little of this route had some footpath, but not all, and the road becomes narrow in places.

I know the Green Lanes are promoted, but are only useful if they go where you want to walk.

We also found signage somewhat lacking.

If you know of a good guide which we might use, I would be grateful for info.

This may be a little late!

St Helier to Gorey does not have much in the way of footpaths. The rest of the Island however does. The whole of the North Coast has coastal foot paths as does the West and most of the East.

It is possible to walk all the way from St Helier to Gorey along the beach as it is very flat and the tide goes out a fair way. The local Government are considering creating a path from Gorey to town, this would be inland though.
