| | | Dentdale - our green and pleasant land Does the British countryside get much better than this?
After a week on Shetland I thought I needed a walk with trees and green countryside and the walk along the River Dee from Dent toward Dillicar did the trick.
Just outside Dent looking towards Combe Scar
Gawthrop
Nearing Dillicar
Helms Knot
Once you rejoin the road at Dillicar then there's an easy path up to Combe Scar - head towards Tofts. From there you can head into Barbondale and pick up the Ocky (Occupation Road - build to keep people occupied as they claimed poor laws relief in the 1800's) before heading down Flinter Gill back into Dent. It's pretty easy to follow on the OS 1:25000 map.

You never forget the first time.

| | | Re: Dentdale - our green and pleasant land Beautiful shots, Rob, of one of my favourite parts of the country.
Funnily enough, I was thinking of Dentdale just the other day, when I was writing up a journal for my web site about my walk on The Dales Way five years ago. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
