| | | Ten Tors This weekend our son is taking part in The Ten Tors event on Dartmoor, having trained hard for the last 6 months.
Tonight we will be helping him pack his bag for a 35 mile walk and 2 nights camping with a team of 6.
He is 15 and really looking forward to it.
Over the training weekends he has seen some beautiful sights and I know he will now have a deep rooted love for walking in the wild.
The bonus is we are going up to see him return, fingers crossed it all goes well.

| | | Re: Ten Tors Good luck to your son, in doing the Ten Tors. Hope he will have better weather than of past years, some bad. Then it's not bad thing for young lad to do, he will thank you for it.
I did all the Pennine Way when I was 14 years old and unforgettable walk it was too, love to do it again, if only the central section would be the 2nd best thing to do.
Nice to be young....(I'm not over the hill yet) |

| | | Re: Ten Tors Ten Tors underway at Okehampton and our son's team has registered and are ready to wake at 5am tomorrow for the start of the walk at 7am.
Really looking forward to going up to Dartmoor in the morning and walking up Sheepstor then on to Okehampton for a night and then see him in on Sunday. (Fingers Crossed)
I love Dartmoor,s hobbity landscape, ponies and spectacular scenery, can't wait.
Looks like the weather will be good too.
Good luck to all the teams.

Arrived at Okehampton Army Camp on Sunday along with thousands of others to watch the teams come in. Checked our sons progress on the screens and worked out their team were going to be cutting it fine to finish by the 5pm deadline.
Sat for hours watching teams come in, tired and elated.
At 4.30 ish their team trainer ran up the hill and disappeared over the top and then in the distance we saw the team. They legged it down and through a ditch with us all shouting "Come on everyone"
They finished with 6 minutes to spare.
It was brilliant and the emotions were running so high.
We are extremely proud, 35 miles , 10 Tors, wild camping and sheer determination.
A day off school was granted today of course!!
