Tag-along Trailer Bike for Child

Now that spring is arriving, I am contemplating buying a tag-along trailer bike so that I can take my 6-year old son on rides out into the countryside to explore some of our local wildlife sites.

Does anyone have any experience of towing these trailer bikes? Are they awkward and unstable? What about climbing hills....is it possible?

Any recommended as to which trailer bikes to look at?

Also what about the adult towing bike? I have an old Raleigh Classic touring bike? Would this be suitable or is a mountain bike a better option)

Any comments or recommendations would be welcome.

For level towing they are great - we've got a Trek one and a 6 year old - hopefully this will be his last year on it...

Given that your six year old probably won't help you much, the tricky thing is hills, so that depends on your fitness and how much help your bike will give you - better more reliable bike, the easier it is.
