| | | Re: where did you walk today? At last the combination of good weather and a day off work meant I was able to go to my favourite reserve around here, Moor Copse owned by BBOWT. Glorious sunshine and a light breeze made it a lovely walk.
We did the 'full curcuit' of the reserve first walking along the river Pang
We then crossed 'Five Acre Field' into the copse the reserve is named after
Before heading back to the car park across the flower meadows which are spectacular in the summer
A great couple of hours. One thing that is worth mentioning is that the reserve was inaccessible last week due to flooding caused by the rain and melting snow apart from the first few metres. What a difference a week makes! Here's the same view last week and this.
Heard and saw lots of birds but no decent photos of them and lots of snow drops in flower in the woods. Spring is here!

A couple of shots from a local walk I took this afternoon, both of the valley running immediately north of the village where I live.
I often see Buzzards here, but not today. In fact I really didn't see much at all, other than the odd chaffinch - I'm still looking for my first wildflowers of the year! |

Not much in the way of birds today. I did better in our park this morning

| | | Re: where did you walk today? Walked over Slaithwaite Moor in the West Riding today. It was cold in a howling gale from the west. Rather quiet on the wildlife front, save for masses of Fieldfares gathering on the mooredge and a lone Skylark back on territory. Also had a cracking pint in the Rose and Crown en route.

| | | Re: where did you walk today? I'm loving this thread too. Great descriptions as well, and really informative.
I've descovered geocaching (thanks to some members here) so am discovering lots of beautiful spots I'd never go to and looking at old familiar ones in new ways.
Today's walk was up May Hill which we though would just be another tree covered hill, like so may here, but it has a plateau at the top with a fir tree copse at the top and almost 360 degree panoramic views all around, the Severn, the Forest of Dean, the Malverns, Welsh Hills and across to the Cotswolds. There were a couple of pally black labradors at the top to greet us too, perfect. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
