I thought i'd take a stroll over dartmoor towards wheal betsy, but i got it wrong and got lost, 2 hrs later I worked out where i was and had a good afternoon rescued a sheep that had got caught in a bramble bush, I was a tad concerned that someone would come along as i'm astride the sheep trying to untangle it and think the worse !!! |

| | | Re: where did you walk today? Today I walked along this deserted path near Holywell in North East Wales
It's about a mile long and I never see anyone on it, despite it being a public right of way. To the sides are extensive woodlands, with lots of secret little pools betrayed only by a circle of willows
Why does nobody go there? Well this possibly-illegal sign at the start is maybe part of it. I wickedly bless the landowner for putting it there...
...and parts of the path might put off the casual walker ...
Back to Holywell. It derives it's name from a Holy Well. I can only show a glimse of it (you can just see the candles as well)...
...because despite this sign on the adjacent gate...
...that gate is padlocked! You have to go through a turnstile, paying 80p for entry. So we are charged even for holy things. Martin Luther, we need you! |

| | | Re: where did you walk today? Today I walked round Oare Marshes. Splendid weather. Saw sand martins, a swallow, reed buntings, sedge warblers, avocets, little egrets, gadwall, pocharch, shovellers, oyster catchers, sky larks.

| | | Re: where did you walk today? Had a short wander around Rother Valley country park today, not having been for several years, it was a nice suprise to see how the woodlands have developed, lots of wildlife about too, especially the quieter areas of the park,
saw a large Hare in the woods where it had made a home in a pile of dry leaves under some fallen branches, and also what i think was a grass snake, it had a yellow v shaped mark at the back of the head and it was also quite a dark colour, and masses of marsh marigolds in one area,
i shall have to go back soon for a longer jaunt, as there were several promising areas i didn't get to see today. |

| | | Re: where did you walk today? The weather was at first, hazy, but later turned out to be a lovely warm and sunny day.
Although, it was too warm and the walk was a bit rough going in places.
Nevertheless, it was superb day, a great walk in a grand area. Route:
Middleton in Teesdale.
Pennine Way. (South)
Harter Fell.
Holwick Scars.
Ash Hill.
Bowlees.
Broadley's Gate.
Coldberry.
Middleton in Teesdale.
15.5 Miles - 3225' total Ascent - Highest Point on walk was Coldberry @1750'
