I don't get to walk along rivers too much, as there are few rivers in the porous chalk of the Chiltern Hills, but your photos have reminded me that I must do another walk along the river Chess sometime (I might even get lucky and see a Little Egret!). |

Well, what a day's walking. Did 16 miles and 2380' of total ascent, really enjoyable walk I've have today.
Middleham - Caldbergh - West Scarfton - West Scarfton Moor - Steel House Moor - Colsterdale - Agra Moor - East Witton.
The weather was like March is, windy, hailstone showers and sunshine. So it was windproof jacket, hat and gloves day.

Bottom row, L-R..Outcrop of rocks on East Scarfton Moor, Looking to East Scarfton Moor, Steel House Gill. |

Spent 7 hours there, 275 photos but even after all the great sights the one that really made it for me was......a lesser spotted woodpecker busying itself around a tree!
Fantastic views over the vale of Aylesbury, if it hadn't been so cold I'd have appreciated it more, though!

I walked through Middleham a few years ago when I walked a long-distance path called "A Dales Walk" - I didn't get such a good shot of the castle though! | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
