Trik | Unfortunately, most people who clear the snow from outside their gardens don't go on to put salt down and that's what causes problems especially if you get a hard frost |

| | | Re: What About The Pedestrians There was talk on the local news about gritting the pavements after they went to a local hospital looking at the number of broken bones the hospital had to treat due to the slippery pavements.
Maybe if people sued the council something will be done but if the pavement gritters run pedestrians over they will have to have a rethink as they will get sued for that then..
You had a lucky escape there Ron.. |

| | | Re: What About The Pedestrians When I lived in Germany (admittedly, the last time was nearly 20 years ago) it was a legal requirement that you cleared and made safe your icy/snowy paths where members of the public had access. You just did it, no questions asked.
Here the council gritted some paths on Tuesday but it just mixed in with deep slush as the paths weren't actually cleared and we've had further snow since then. I walk with a stick now thanks to Arthur Itis, so getting around has been "interesting".
I pushed my trike through the pavement slush on Tuesday but roads were so narrowed with snow banked on both sides that I didn't dare ride the trike on the roads - errands that would normally take 90 mins max. took four and a half hours. |

| | | Re: What About The Pedestrians I'm just wondering how much the final cost of not gritting our pavements have been to the N.H.S and the Benefit system. Some people have had to have at least 6 weeks off work due to broken bones, if not more.
Was it all worth it I ask myself, somehow I don't think so. |
