| | Berghaus Cuesta shoes ??? Anyone have any experience of these?
I recently got into 'Geocaching', and also have a young active dog - the combination means I'm getting out and about a lot more than I used to.
So much so, that I'm looking for something beyond the generic 'decent pair of trainers' that I've lived-and-died in for many, many years.
Looking around the internet, these things are cheaper than I usually pay for a pair of trainers, and the handful of reviews I've seen seem to suggest they'll also be much tougher.
Do I go ahead and get a pair? - or is there anything I should consider instead?
They'd get used pretty-much daily, dog-walking etc. - Geocaching/trail-walking maybe 2 or 3 times a month - and maybe 3 or 4 camping trips per year.
Any comments on these shoes, or suggestions of a similarly-priced alternative (£50-ish or less) welcomed.
Thanks....
Carlos

| | | Re: Berghaus Cuesta shoes ??? I'm a great fan of Berghaus and never heard of Cuesta until now. I've been onto the Berghaus website and only 1 review and postive that was. These shoes look really good, but not sure about ankle support. However I think these would be great for shopping, walking the dog and low-level walking. I think there would be ideal for mountain biking, if you did'nt use spd pedals.
I've a pair of Berghaus K9 Storm Boots and although I had them for 5 years, there are the bees knees. I was going wear them for my Coast to Coast Walk(plug) but I guess a bit heavy and out of season for them.
I like Salomon boots and shoes and had a pair of Columbria walking shoes which are a great all-rounder.
I think the Berghaus Cuesta shoes look great for the price, although not waterproof, but look comfy. |

| | | Re: Berghaus Cuesta shoes ??? Thanks for the 'thumbs-up' to Berghaus footwear foxy
I ordered them yesterday, and they arrived today (about an hour ago) - must say I'm very pleased with them. They look like a hybrid of trainers and walking shoes.
Quality appears to compare very favourably with trainers of similar or higher price - they certainly give off an air of 'ruggedness' (is that a real word - LOL)
Quite light in weight too, very good grip - and very comfortable - I just tried 'em out when walking the dog - none of the 'breaking-in' pains that you often get with new footwear either.
Admittedly, they're not 100% waterproof - that's not a big issue for me, but they do appear to be at least as water-resistant as the usual 'trainers' I'm so used to wearing.
And the lack of ankle support - well that's a big PLUS-point for me.
I hate having to wear ankle-covering boots, I find them very uncomfortable, even painful after a while - It's the major reason I could never go ice-skating - the rigid boots they hire out at rinks have me in agony within 20 mins.
From what I've seen of these Cuestas - they're a perfect replacement to general purpose trainers. Similar price, better grip, and look like they'll last MUCH longer.
It's a no-brainer - I might never buy another pair of trainers.

| | | Re: Berghaus Cuesta shoes ??? Good to hear you are pleased with the Cuesta shoes, I like the look of them. But I've plenty of trainers to last another ten years, all these sales you see.
A lot of walkers, like myself go for mid boots. Which is a cross between a boot and trainer, the best of both worlds really. I was going mention my forecoming walk which is in May, but someone on here is a bit bias towards it
Anyway, do let us know on how you get on with them. I might be tempted to buy a pair for mountain biking |

I am so sorry if it was me, I wish you the very best for a fascinating walk , and one I would love to do but feel a bit knackered for. My biggest problem with lots of projects I do is that I tend to pack more and more, and always feel I should have Sherpa. I fully intend to be spare, lightweight and able to improvise, then, well, I do need to take spare this, new that and an improved the other. Best time was when I left loads of stuff behind by accident. Didn't need it. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
