Fantastic Afternoon

The weather has been poor but I have had one of the most enjoyable walks for some time now. Dressed in a thick pair of trousers and a good heavy parka I ventured deep into the parks foliage with no regard for the nettles, thistles, branches etc. I took a new route today, following parts of the golf course but also purposely walking through as many deep puddles and streams as possible to test my waterproof socks. As the picture shows I got a little carried away and ended up knee high in a bog, but a quick dip in the lake washed away all the gunge. Anyone watching must have thought I was a nutter.

I took a pedometer out today and the results tell me that I made 12436 steps and lost 668 calories - not bad for two hours. Most of my walking was at quite a fast pace, and with long strides too, so the calories burnt are likely to be more. 12436 steps is 7 miles, at a yard a step, but what with manouvering for photos etc it was probably nearer 6 miles. I took a radio walkman so I could keep up with the cricket and football, got soaked through, took some great photos but I have to say, despite the photo my feet were bone dry - the waterproof socks are fantastic and allow me to take on a new element to my walking. Nothing is out of bounds.
